CHPC designed this study visit to provide board members and NYC housing experts with an overview of the issues confronting New Orleans and the Mississippi Gulf Coast, and the plans and projects that are currently under way.  We organized meetings and social gatherings that allowed participants to talk directly to the key practitioners currently working to rebuild the Gulf Region. 


CHPC sought to provide a balanced agenda that would acquaint the participants with different points of view. Therefore, we took advantage of an opportunity to provide an excursion to Mississippi, where we saw firsthand the similarities and differences in the approaches being applied in two different states affected by Katrina.

Following the Study Visit, we will prepare a debriefing package which will include brief summaries of all meetings and background material on the practitioners we met with as well as their organizations.  We will also include contact information for all Study Visit participants so that you can keep in touch.
